Itinerary

Upon arrival in Mombasa, you will be picked up at the airport and taken to your hotel. The rest of the day is free. Relax, take a stroll, enjoy the sights and sounds. Get plenty of rest – tomorrow will be huge!

Your day begins with an early morning pick-up at 5 a.m. from South Coast Diani or 5 a.m. from Diani Beach Hotel. You'll embark on a journey along the Mombasa-Nairobi Highway, with a stop at a curio shop for coffee and restroom breaks. Your destination is Tsavo West, where you'll arrive at the gate and commence a game drive en route to Tsavo West Ngulia Safari Lodge. Check-in takes place at approximately 1:00 p.m., followed by a buffet lunch. Enjoy relaxation time until 4:00 p.m. when you'll head out for an evening game drive, visiting the rhino sanctuary for a chance to spot black rhinos. Return to Ngulia Safari Lodge around 6:30 p.m. for an overnight stay.

Begin your day with an early breakfast at 6:00 a.m., followed by a game drive en route to Mzima Springs. Here, you'll have the chance to observe hippos and crocodiles in their natural habitat. Mzima Springs is a remarkable place that produces over one million liters of water per day. Afterward, drive to Chyulu Gate, check out of Tsavo West, and heading to Amboseli National Park.

During your journey, you'll make a stopover at Shetani Lava to capture some memorable photos. Continue on to Kimana Gate in Amboseli, which is approximately 80 kilometers from Tsavo West. Upon arrival, check-in at your Amboseli Safari Lodge in time for lunch and a brief relaxation.

In the evening, embark on a game drive until 6:30 p.m., exploring the park and its wildlife. Finally, return to your lodge at Ol tukai Safari Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Start your day with an early morning game drive, and then return to the lodge for breakfast. After breakfast, it's time to depart to the Taita Hills Game Sanctuary. Enjoy lunch upon your arrival at Taita Hills Lodge. Following lunch, embark on a thrilling game drive within the sanctuary, exploring its wildlife until sunset. Keep your eyes peeled, as there's a good chance of spotting lions and other fascinating animals.

Salt Lick Lodge is known for its unique and imaginative structure, making it especially memorable. It consists of a complex of rondavels built on stilts above a series of water holes. The two-story towers, crowned with thatched roofs, are connected by open-air bridges, creating the ambiance of an African fantasy castle. The lodge has been thoughtfully designed for optimal game viewing, offering spectacular open views in all directions, allowing you to observe animals from various vantage points.

Dinner and overnight accommodations are provided at Salt Lick Lodge.

Begin your day with an early morning game drive at 6:30 am, and then return to the lodge for breakfast at 8:30 am. After breakfast, depart for Tsavo East. As you enter Tsavo East, embark on a game drive en route to Voi Safari Lodge, where you'll check-in and enjoy lunch.

At 4:00 pm, you'll head out for another game drive, followed by a 6:30 pm game drive. Finally, return to Aruba Ashnill Safari Lodge for dinner and overnight accommodations.

Enjoy an early breakfast at 6:30 am, followed by an extended morning game drive until 10:00 am. This is an excellent opportunity to spot the big cats of Tsavo. Check out of the park between 10:00 am and 10:30 am via Bachuma gate. Then, drive back to your hotel, arriving in the evening.

It’s the final day in Coastal Kenya, Take advantage of the relaxed schedule and sleep in before breakfast is served. Enjoy the breathtaking views of Indian Ocean as the sun rises at the horizon one last time and also if time allows be sure to grab any last minute souvenirs you may want and say one last goodbye to the new friends you made in Kenya before being transferred to Mombasa International Airport for your flight back home.

How fit do I need to be to do this trek?

Annapurna Base Camp is a Grade B or a moderately difficult trekking route. So any fit person can do this trek, even if you do not have any previous experience. You should be aware of what to expect and mentally prepare for it. Then, as long as you will too, you can.

How long do we walk every day when doing Annapurna Base Camp trekking?

On average, you walk about 4 to 6 hours per day. One or two days can be as less as 3hrs and one or two days can be as long as 7hrs.

What is the highest altitude reached in this trek?

The highest altitude reached is 4190m. This is the elevation of Annapurna Base Camp. ABC is the highest we will climb in this trek.

What about battery charging and hot shower facilities?

Yes, you can charge batteries en route. Charger should be brought. There are hot shower facilities as well. You may have to pay a certain amount for both ($1-$2). Negotiate. Also, a hot water facility could be free at a lower elevation.

Are there ATMs on the way to Annapurna Base Camp?

No. There are no ATMs on this trek route. You will have to draw enough cash in Pokhara or Kathmandu. There are a number of ATMs in these cities. Everything is paid in Nepali rupees. So money should be exchanged before the start of the trek.

What about internet access?

Yes. The Internet can be accessed in most places. Sometimes, there might be some technical problems. The Internet in Nepal is not as fast as you are used to and at times you can just lose connection.

Is it necessary to hire Guides/trekking agency for Annapurna Base Camp trekking?

Not really. It depends on you. If you want, ABC trekking can be done independently. You could hire a guide and a porter by yourself instead of going through an agency or not hire a guide at all. Although, not having a guide can be a little problematic during the offseason.

It really depends on you. Is it your first time in Nepal? How confident are you of being able to find your way around? How pressed on time are you? If you go through an agency, it will be costlier but everything will be planned. You will only have to come, trek and return.

How much do guides and porters cost?

For the Annapurna region, pay for guides range from $20 to $30 per day and porters take $15 to $25 per day.
