A Honeymoon to Remember Exploring the Maasai Mara

A Honeymoon to Remember: Exploring the Maasai Mara

A Honeymoon to Remember: Exploring the Maasai Mara

A blog from a previous client and I quote, “As I sit down to write this blog post, memories of my honeymoon game drive to Maasai Mara with my lovely wife flood my mind. We had a truly unforgettable experience thanks to Nature Bound Africa, a company recommended to us by a family friend. From the moment we arrived in Nairobi, we were greeted with warm hospitality and exceptional service.

Our stay at the luxurious Nairobi Serena Hotel was a perfect start to our journey. And as we ventured into the heart of the Maasai Mara, we couldn’t have been more excited for what was to come. This is A Honeymoon to Remember: Exploring the Maasai Mara with Nature Bound Africa

Day 1: Arrival

We were thrilled to start our honeymoon game drive to the Maasai Mara, which was arranged by Nature Bound Africa. We were picked up from our hotel in Nairobi early in the morning and set off on our adventure.

The drive to the Mara was beautiful, with rolling hills and lush greenery passing by outside the window. Our driver guide was knowledgeable and friendly, pointing out various landmarks and wildlife along the way.

After a few hours, we arrived at the Mara Serena Lodge, our home for the next four nights. The lodge was stunning, with breathtaking views of the Mara plains and a warm and welcoming staff. We were checked in quickly and escorted to our room, which was spacious and well-appointed.

We spent the rest of the day exploring the lodge’s facilities, taking in the scenery, and enjoying a delicious dinner at the on-site restaurant

Day 2: Game Drive

We woke up early on our second day to begin our game drive in the Maasai Mara. Our driver-guide was waiting for us, and we set off in our safari vehicle with excitement and anticipation.

Within minutes of entering the park, we were surrounded by an abundance of wildlife. We saw elephants, giraffes, zebras, and many other animals in their natural habitats. As we drove deeper into the park, we came across a cheetah lounging in the shade of a tree. We couldn’t believe our luck! We were able to observe the cheetah for several minutes before it got up and walked off into the distance.

After a few hours of game driving, we returned to the lodge for lunch and a bit of relaxation. The rest of the day was spent enjoying the lodge’s amenities and taking in the stunning scenery.

Day 3: Hot Air Balloon Ride

On our third day, we decided to take a hot air balloon ride over the Mara. It was an unforgettable experience, with breathtaking views of the park from above. We were able to see herds of wildebeest and zebras moving across the plains, as well as other animals like elephants and giraffes.

After the balloon ride, we returned to the lodge for breakfast and another game drive. We were fortunate enough to see lions, hyenas, and even a leopard hiding in a tree. It was incredible to be able to witness these animals in their natural habitat.

Day 4: Departure

Our final day in the Maasai Mara was bittersweet. We woke up early for a sunrise game drive and were able to see some of the animals we had missed earlier in the trip. As we drove through the park, we couldn’t help but feel grateful for the incredible experience we had had.

After the game drive, we returned to the lodge for breakfast and some last-minute relaxation before departing back to Nairobi. We were sad to leave the Maasai Mara and the Mara Serena Lodge but felt grateful for the memories we had made on our honeymoon game drive with Nature Bound Africa.

Commitment to responsible tourism

Commitment to responsible tourism

Commitment to responsible tourism

At Nature Bound Africa, we believe tourism must be a powerful force for good. Our commitment to responsible tourism and partnership with the Conservation & Sustainability Foundations is the cornerstone of our commitment to responsible tourism, ensuring that future generations continue to experience the wonders of the African wilderness. We believe the future of East Africa’s wildlife depends on four critical pillars: securing conservation land, protecting species, providing tangible benefits to local communities, and educating the next generation.

1. Direct Impact Through Every Guest

When you choose to travel with us, you are directly giving back to Africa. For every guest who joins a Nature Bound Africa safari, we make a contribution to the conservation and sustainability Foundation. Because their administrative costs are covered by partners, 100% of every donation goes directly to ground operations in the iconic areas we visit, including the Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Masai Mara, and Amboseli.

2. Wildlife Warrior Program: Empowering the Next Generation

We believe passion for wildlife is born from knowledge. Through the Wildlife Warrior Program, experts and guides inspire and instruct children living near key protected areas in Kenya and Tanzania. Since its launch in 2014, this program has worked with over 2,000 children, providing scholarships to nurture the next generation of rangers, wardens, and environmental advocates.

3. Safeguarding Vast Landscapes & Mitigating Conflict

Our commitment to responsible tourism and conservation reach, extends across 1.36 million acres of safeguarded land in Kenya alone. In Tanzania, we support ingenious initiatives like the Human-Elephant Conflict Mitigation Program. This program protects both local farmers’ crops and the elephants themselves by distributing toolkits containing simple yet effective deterrents like chilli bombs, fireworks, and LED torches.

4. Logistical Support for Health and Education

Sustainability also means supporting the people who live alongside wildlife. We provide logistical support for:

    • Medical Care: Funding medical camps that provide free screenings for cancer and diabetes, HIV testing, and family planning advice.

    • Education Infrastructure: Supplying schools with books, stationery, and uniforms, while funding the construction of classrooms, kitchens, and rainwater harvesting systems.

Experience the Impact We invite our guests to visit these projects firsthand during their safari. It is a unique opportunity to see the inspiring benefits your presence brings to the local communities and the environment.
