Kibale – Queen Elizabeth Ntl Park – Bwindi – Lake Bunyonyi –  Volcanoes National Park – Nyungwe Forest – Butare

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe Airport

On arrival at the Airport, you will be welcomed by our company representative. Depending on the time of your arrival, Early arrivals will enable you visit some places in Entebbe like Botanical gardens, Snake Parks and the Entebbe Zoo. However with late and evening arrivals, your driver guide will transfer you to your Hotel in Kampala for dinner, refreshments and overnight stay at Cassia Lodge.

Day 2: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

After breakfast at your Hotel in Kampala, the driver will pick you up and drive you to Fort Portal and then to Kibale Forest National Park which is the most accessible rain forest. The Park is a habitat to a variety of primates in East Africa. Upon arrival, go for a guided nature walk or carry out a short community tour to the neighboring communities surrounding the Park. Dinner overnight at Primates lodge (Luxury)/ Chimp’s nest (Midrange)/Chimpanzee Guest house.

Day 3: Chimp tracking and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Upon having breakfast in the morning at your lodge, you will go for the life time Chimpanzee tracking experience in their natural environment and habitat. You will first report to the Park Headquarters at Kanyachu for a briefing about the chimp trackers code of conduct by a UWA official and then later go for the morning chimpanzee tracking experience. You will penetrate into the forest under the guidance of an armed ranger for the tracking.  Besides the chimps, you may spot other primates and these include: Varvet Monkey, L’hoest, Blue Monkey, Red-Tailed Monkey, Grey Cheeked Mangabey, Black And White Colobus Monkey and many more. Return back to the lodge for Lunch and in the afternoon proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park which is the most popular protected area with a stunning location on the rift valley floor between Lakes Edward and George. En route to the Park you will enjoy a game drive that will expose you to different wildlife species such as Elephants, Buffalos, Uganda Kob and if you are lucky, you may also spot the Hyena, Lions, Leopard and perhaps the Giant Forest Hog. Dinner and overnight stay at Mweya safari lodge or Jacana Safari Lodge (Luxury)/Hippo Hills camp or Queen Elizabeth Bush Lodge (mid range)/ Simba safari lodge.

Day 4: Game drive and afternoon Launch cruise

After your breakfast, you will go for the morning game drive in Kasenyi area to search for different wildlife animals missed out in the previous game drive. Later visit the Katwe explosion craters. Here you will spot Kitagata Lake and the enormous Kamengo Crater and this will give you clear view of different wildlife around the Park. In the afternoon, go for the launch cruise along the Kazinga Channel where you will be rewarded with wildlife sights of species like the Hippopotamuses, Waterbucks, Crocodiles and a variety of Water Birds like the black bee- eater, several species of falcons and the raptors. Dinner and overnight stay at Mweya safari lodge or Jacana Safari Lodge (Luxury)/Hippo Hills camp or Queen Elizabeth Bush Lodge (mid range)/ Simba safari lodge.

Day 5: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast, you will transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park via the Ishasha sector commonly known for the rare tree climbing lions. These are basically found in the tall fig trees and acacia trees. Have lunch at Ishasha as you spot the hippos in the Ishasha River. You may also spot buffaloes, leopards, Kob and topis on the plains of the area. Proceed to Bwindi for refreshments, dinner and overnight stay at Gorilla Resort or Mahogany Springs or Gorilla Forest Camp (Luxury)/Lake Kitandara or Buhoma Lodge (Midrange)/Buhoma Community Bandas or wagtail eco safari camp.

Day 6: Gorilla tracking in Bwindi and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

After breakfast, you will report to the park headquarters where you will be briefed about the mountain gorilla trackers code of conduct. Later you will penetrate through the impenetrable forest for a more adventurous and exciting lifetime experience of Mountain Gorilla tracking.  You are all reminded to go with your packed lunch and bottled water since the tracking duration depends on the ease to see the gorilla that day and where they slept the previous night. Besides the Gorillas, you will also spot other forest wildlife like the Black and White Colobus Monkeys, Red Tailed Colobus, Blue Monkey, L’hoests and baboons and many more. After the trek, you will transfer to Lake Bunyonyi via Kabale region which is commonly known as the “Switzerland of Africa”. You will reach Lake Bunyonyi by evening. Dinner and overnight stay at Arcadia Cottages/ Heritage Lodge.

Day 7: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda

After breakfast, you will enjoy a morning boat ride on Lake Bunyonyi for scenic views and bird watching. The lake has forested and green Islands which habits different bird and wildlife species. Return back to your lodge for lunch and after proceed to Rwanda through the border after Kisoro and at the footsteps of Muhavura volcano.  you will arrive at Volcanoes National Park in time for dinner and overnight stay at Kinigi Guest House (Budget)/Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge (Mid range)/ Mountain Gorilla View Lodge.

Day 8: Mountain Gorilla tracking in PNV

After breakfast, you will transfer to the Park headquarters at 7:00am for a briefing from the ORTPN Ranger guides. After this, you will be accompanied by your ranger guide and start your trek into the forest to search for the habituated Mountain Gorilla family allocated to your group. You are reminded to bring with you packed lunch and bottled Mineral water. In terms of clothes, trekking boots, long sleeved shirts and blouses, rain coats, and Cameras are highly recommended for the trek. The time you will spend in the forest searching for the Gorillas is not predictable as it depends on where they spend the last night. Once you come across the Gorillas, all the troubles you have gone through to reach them will be easily forgotten and instead utilize the1 hour you have with them to get a great experience. You can observe them in terms of behaviors as well as taking photographs. Return to the lodge for refreshments, dinner and overnight stay at Kinigi Guest House (Budget)/Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge (Mid range)/ Mountain Gorilla View Lodge.

Day 9: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park

After breakfast, you will leave Ruhengeri and transfer to the South Western Rwanda along the road on the shores of Lake Kivu to Nyungwe Forest National Park. En route to the Park, visit the Kibuye town also found on the shores of Lake Kivu for stunning sceneries and Lunch. After lunch, you will proceed in the afternoon to Cyangugu town which is on the Southern shore of Lake Kivu and also a gateway to Nyungwe Forest National Park. You will reach Nyungwe in the evening in time for dinner and overnight stay at Nyungwe Forest Lodge (Luxury) or Gisakura Guest House.

Day 10: Chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe

After an early breakfast, you will leave the lodge or guest house around 5:00am and enter the forest to search for the Chimpanzees and also other primates like the Angolan colobus. The park hosts 13 species of primates and these include: chimpanzees, Rwenzori colobus, Hoest Monkey, silver monkey, owl faced monkey, red tailed monkey, vervet monkey and olive baboon and so many others. You are also advised to carry with you a packed lunch and bottled mineral water. Return in the evening for dinner and overnight stay at Nyungwe Forest Lodge (Luxury) or Gisakura Guest House.

Day 11: Butare and Kigali

After breakfast, you will drive back to Kigali with en route stopovers at Gikongoro for a tour of the Genocide Memorial of Murambi. Have lunch in Butare town which is the 2nd town in Rwanda and also considered the cultural capital. The city hosts the university and the National Museum with very rewarding handicraft shops where typical products made by Rwandan artisans are sold. After this, you will proceed with your journey and visit the Royal Palace in Nyanza. The site displays original items and pieces of history of the Old Mwami who was the King. Proceed to Kigali for dinner and overnight stay at Hotel Chezlando/Step Town Motel (budget), Kigali Serena or Hotel Des Mill Collins for Luxury or Golf Hills Residence for Mid range

Day 12: City tour and departure

After breakfast, you will go for a Kigali city tour and visit places like the cultural and traditional sites such as the handicraft markets, the local markets, the museum and the Genocide memorial and the education center. After this, you will transfer to the Airport for your outbound flight back home

**PLEASE NOTE: The tour can be upgraded to a higher standard accommodation at an extra cost. It can also be cheaper if less expensive (but still good quality) accommodation is used. The final cost of the tour depends on your budget and preference.
